Ai for Smart Cities and Society

AI for Smart Cities & Society is a forum that addresses opportunities, challenges, solutions and implementations within artificial intelligence and smart city and community development.

The initiative behind AI for Smart Cities & Communities comes from Smart Innovation Norway's business areas Smart Cities & Communities and Cluster for Applied AI , but we want to do this in close collaboration with our partners.

On Monday 21 June we therefore had a first working meeting to discuss how the forum should be put together, who should join, which activities are appropriate and which topics are prioritized.

We see that a lot is happening on this front now and we believe that Norway has a lot to gain from an operative, exploratory, long-term and transparent collaboration so that it benefits society. We also see that it is desirable to have an arena that promotes and explores the social benefits where the public sector is driving.

In order to do this in an appropriate way, we believe that it is important to facilitate the practical sharing of experiences and lessons learned, as well as to work together on training and competence building and to carry out several joint projects. At the same time, we want to use this forum to spread success factors and simple ways to scale pilots and projects that have been carried out within this theme in recent years.

As a first proposal, the forum will target municipalities, county councils, agencies and other networks in Norway. Through our Nordic partners, we are also in the process of creating links across national borders, so that we can collaborate around the same topics and learn from each other.

Among other things, we want to focus on the topics of strategic competence development for technology adoption, artificial intelligence and sustainability, economics and investments in infrastructure, identification and validation of gains as well as toolboxes for machine learning, autonomy and practical implementation and organisation.

The specific proposals for activities that were put forward at the working meeting were: Digital platform for knowledge sharing, webinars and workshops, hackathons, joint innovation projects and transfer of lessons learned.

Our partners are automatically invited to this forum and for others there will be more information shortly about how to join. The plan is to launch with an open webinar after the summer.
