Decommissioning is about planning for all phases from establishment to destruction and clean-up as well as reuse of materials, safe handling of hazardous waste and restoration of the site - in the most profitable way possible.
Skolt and SafeClean are already good partners, and it is natural for them to bring the partnership into the DECOM cluster.
The expertise of the two companies applies to the processes that arise when a plant ceases operation and when buildings, machinery, installations and other complex and often contaminated materials are dismantled, destroyed and recycled.
As chairman of Skolt Miljøpark AS and CEO of the Skolt Holding Group, Karsten F. Hansen has good knowledge of this part of the decommissioning process.
Tell us briefly about the company's business and your role.
I represent Skolt Miljøpark AS and SafeClean AS's joint partnership in the DECOM cluster. In addition to being chairman of the board of Skolt Miljøpark AS, I am the CEO of the Skolt Holding Group, which, among other things, has major operations related to the handling of surplus materials and the provision of construction contractor services. The Skolt Group has had and continues to have a close and good dialog with SafeClean AS regarding cooperation on a major project involving, among other things, low-level radioactive waste.
What goals are Skolt and SafeClean working towards?
Our goal is to ensure that we establish a good and safe way for decommissioning, permanent storage of radioactive waste and reuse of masses where the contamination has been removed.
Why do Skolt and SafeClean want to be a member of the Decommissioning and Reuse Cluster? What kind of collaboration is of interest to you?
As a leading player in our field, we want to contribute to the DECOM cluster with our expertise. We are a good partner for those who need a player to carry out good decommissioning processes, safe storage, cleaning of contaminated masses and sensible and efficient recycling of these.
